The familiar form of Mr. Harvey Bower has passed from our streets forever. Around in his apparently usual state of health on Wednesday, he had succumbed to a fatal attack of acute congestion of the lungs, before the close of the week. The first announcement of his severe illness excited the deepest interest and astonishment; while his untimely death, a few hours afterwards, called forth from our citizens a general expression of regret and sympathy, as genuine as it was unstinted. He could ill be spared, as, in his person, passes from out his home, the father, the brother, the son. For some years Mr. Bower has lived almost a charmed life. On several occasions he has had to engage in a life-and -death encounter with the grim Destroyer, succeeding each time in wrestling from him a further lease of life, only to be compelled at last to lay it down with scarcely a struggle. Mr. Bower was genial and entertaining in his manner, and had few, if any, enemies. He had good business ability and was a successful General Loan and Insurance Agent, representing the Canada Life and many other standard companies. The funeral on Tuesday was attended by a large concourse of sorrowing friends and sympathizing acquaintances, the remains being interred in St. James cemetery. The Advance respectfully desires to express its sincere condolence with the bereaved family in its severe affliction.
