Johnston-Melvin
The home of Mr. and Mrs. David Melvin was the scene of a very pretty wedding on Wednesday at high-noon, when their daughter Emilie was married to Mr. Albert P. Johnston, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Johnston, Winchester, the ceremony being performed by Rev. J. R. Curtis, assisted by Rev. Mr. Glassford. The home was very prettily decorated for the occasions with masses of fern and gladiolus. The bride, escorted by her father, looked very charming as she entered in her gown of ivory crepe metior with trimmings of Chantilly lace. She wore a tulle veil with orange blossoms and carried a shower bouquet of sweetheart roses. Her only ornament was a string of pearls, the gift from the groom.
The bride's only attendant was little Jean Melvin who wore a pretty frock of pink organdy and carried a basket of mauve and pink sweetpeas. Miss Ruth Melvin played the wedding march. Miss Georgie Earl sang Until, during the signing of the register.
Following the ceremony a reception was held. The bride's table, centered with the wedding cake, was decorated with gladiolus. The bride's mother wore a gown of black satin lace. Mrs. Johnston, mother of the groom, wore a gown of navy crepe.
Later the young couple left by motor for New York and Washington, the bride travelling in a tailored suit of green homespun with hat to match and mink neck piece. The groom's gift to the pianist and to the flower girl was to each a beautiful onyx ring. The bride, who is one of Winchesters most popular young ladies, was the recipient of a large number of very handsome and valuable presents. To the young couple, who will reside in Winchester, is extended the congratulations and best wishes of their many friends.
